Q. How much does it cost to fly to San Pedro Sula Honduras?

A. You can fly on Spirit typically for less than $300 roundtrip from Tampa. I recommend flying non-stop on Spirit out of Orlando however. It's about the same cost but will get you there and back faster, and during better hours of the day.

Q. What is Freedom Honduras?

A. Freedom Honduras is a non-profit organization focused on providing at least one meal per day to children in some of the most impoverished areas throughout Honduras.

Q. Why Honduras?

A. We recognize there is need throughout the world and certainly don't want to limit our efforts to one country. However there are several reasons why we're focused on Honduras.

With over 2 million people living in and around San Pedro Sula there is a large concentration of population. The population is relatively poor. So there is a tremendous need for basic things like food, water, shelter.

San Pedro Sula is frequently listed as the most dangerous city in the world. This is due to the large number of gangs which thrive on drug trafficking between South and North America.

Honduras is in close proximity to the United States. It's less than 800 nautical miles from Florida. This makes traveling to Honduras relatively easy.

Q. How can I help?

A. The best way to help is to become a sponsor. Our sponsorships have two levels. The first level is for individuals who want to make a difference. For a small monthly donation you will ensure a single child is receiving a meal once per day, four days a week at one of our feeding program facilities throughout Honduras. The second level is for churches, ministries, businesses, and other organizations who are looking to establish charitable works but don't want the cost and risk of running the logistics of a feeding program on the ground. Sponsoring at that level establishes a feeding program for a group of up to thirty kids and bares the organizations name.

Q. What motivates us?

A. Compassion. When you know what it's like to suffer and have found the cure it's natural you'll want to share that cure. It brings a sense of purpose to your life. We know there are many people who want to help those who are most in need but it's difficult to trust people in far off lands who may be in desperate positions. That's why we've formed a trusted network of people who carry out the logistical work to feed these children daily.
